Net Worth OJ Simpson: Biography

Simpson is the son of Eunice, a hospital administrator, and Jimmy Lee Simpson, a cook, and bank custodian. Simpson was born in San Francisco, California, and raised there throughout his childhood. His mother was a famous drag queen in the San Francisco Bay Area, and his father followed in his footsteps. Jimmy Simpson came out as gay later in his life, but he passed away in 1986 due to complications from AIDS.

His maternal grandparents were born in Louisiana, and Simpson’s aunt gave him the name Orenthal, which she explained was taken from a French actress that she admired. Simpson’s maternal grandparents were born in Louisiana. Since his birth, everyone has known him by the nickname “O. J.” He did not learn that Orenthal was his given name until a teacher read it to him in the third grade.

Simpson has one living sister named Shirley Simpson-Baker, as well as one sister named Carmelita Simpson-Durio who passed away. Simpson’s brother is named Melvin Leon “Truman” Simpson. Simpson got rickets when he was a toddler, and he had to wear braces on his legs until he was five years old; this resulted in his bowlegged stance. Simpson was reared by his mother when his parents divorced in 1952 and went their separate ways.

Simpson spent his childhood in San Francisco, where he was raised in the housing projects of the Potrero Hill district together with the rest of his family. Soon after entering his adolescent years, he became a member of a local criminal organization known as the Persian Warriors and spent some time in custody at the San Francisco Youth Guidance Center.

His future wife Marguerite, who was his childhood sweetheart, described O.J. Simpson as “truly a nasty person then.” After his third arrest, a visit with Willie Mays, in which the baseball star encouraged Simpson to avoid trouble, was essential in persuading Simpson to change his ways. Simpson was a member of the football squad known as the Galileo Lions while he was a student at Galileo High School in San Francisco (which is now known as Galileo Academy of Science and Technology). In 1965, he received his diploma.

Net Worth OJ Simpson: Career

The Buffalo Bills selected O.J. Simpson as the first overall pick in the draft in the year 1969. Simpson requested what was considered to be the most lucrative deal in the history of professional sports at the time: $650,000 per year for a period of five years. As a result, tensions rose and a confrontation ensued with the owner of the Bills, Ralph Wilson.

Simpson made a veiled threat to end his career as a professional football player and instead pursue a career in the entertainment industry. At some point, Wilson came around to accepting Simpson’s conditions. During his first 3 years playing football, he had a difficult time and averaged only 622 yards each season.

Finally, in 1972, Simpson became the first professional back in his career to rush for more than 1,000 yards. In 1973, he set a record by being the first player in NFL history to have rushed for more than 2000 yards in a single season. In 1975, he ran for 1,817 yards and scored 16 touchdowns, which led to his winning the rushing title once again. The injury that Simpson suffered in 1977 caused his season to be cut short.

Simpson was moved to the San Francisco 49ers prior to the start of the 1978 season after being traded to the team in a preseason deal. On December 16, 1979, he played in his final National Football League game, which was a loss to the Atlanta Falcons. O.J. capped off the drive with a first down run of 10 yards on third and 10 yard line.

He was also then inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1985 and played in a total of six Pro Bowls throughout his career. Simpson has the honor of being selected to the National Football League 100th Anniversary All-Time Team in 2019.

Unfortunately, all of OJ Simpson’s previous sports accomplishments have been overshadowed by many legal issues. The first incident occurred when it was discovered in 1994 that he was the primary suspect in the murder of his ex-wife. He became the topic of conversation everywhere due to a blockbuster trial.

In addition to being convicted legally accountable for Ronald Goldman’s death, Simpson was found to be financially responsible for the crime. In 1995, Simpson was criminally tried for the murder of Ron Goldman and his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson, but he was ultimately judged not criminally responsible for the crimes. He was not held accountable in a civil court for Nicole’s passing.

O.J. Simpson was forced to pay the Goldman family a total of $33.5 million in damages as a result of the civil lawsuit involving Ron Goldman. Due to the accumulation of interest, that sum is now greater than $40 million. The debt was reduced by around $500,000 thanks to the sale of a variety of assets and mementos.

He also now has a criminal record due to a robbery and an abduction that took place in Las Vegas in 2007.

In 2007, Simpson was accused of having an outstanding tax liability of $1.44 million to the state of California. On September 1, 1999, a tax lien was lodged against him as part of his case.

Simpson made an application in the late 1990s to register the trademarks “O. J. Simpson,” “O. J.,” and “The Juice” for “a broad range of goods, including figurines, trading cards, apparel, medallions, coins, and prepaid telephone cards.” William B. Ritchie, a self-described “concerned citizen,” filed a lawsuit to challenge the government’s decision to provide federal registration, arguing that doing so would be unethical and disgraceful.

Simpson finally gave up the fight in the year 2000 and moved to Miami, Florida, in the same year after relocating from California. The state of Florida is one of the few places in which it is generally not possible to seize a person’s pension or residence in order to collect on a debt.

Simpson was taken into custody in Miami-Dade County, Florida, in February 2001 on charges of simple battery and burglary of an occupied conveyance. The resulting charges stemmed from an incident in which Simpson allegedly ripped the glasses off the face of another driver during a traffic dispute three months earlier.

Simpson was tried for both allegations in October 2001, and he was immediately acquitted of both of them. Had he been convicted, Simpson could have been sentenced to as much as 16 years in jail.

The FBI conducted a search of Simpson’s house in Miami on December 4, 2001, on the assumption that he possessed ecstasy and was involved in money laundering. After the arrest of ten other defendants in connection with the investigation, the FBI got information suggesting that Simpson was involved in a massive drug trafficking ring.

After a comprehensive search that lasted for two hours and during which no illegal narcotics were found, Simpson’s house was not taken into custody and no official charges were brought as a result of the investigation. However, investigators discovered equipment that was capable of stealing satellite television programming, which ultimately led to Simpson being sued in federal court.

Simpson was taken into custody on July 4, 2002, in Miami-Dade County, Florida, on charges of violating basic boating restrictions and racing past a manatee protection zone. The criminal prosecution related to boating regulations was dismissed, but Simpson was given a monetary penalty for the speeding violation.

In March of 2004, the satellite television network DirecTV, Inc. accused Simpson of employing illegal technical devices to steal its broadcast signals in a federal court in Miami. Simpson was compelled to pay an additional $33,678 in attorney’s fees and costs when the company ultimately prevailed in court and secured a judgment for $25,000.

Relationships

Simpson wed his longtime sweetheart, Marguerite L. Whitley, on June 24, 1967, when he was just 19 years old. Arnelle L. Simpson was born in 1968, Jason Lamar Simpson[66] was born in 1970, and Aaren Lashone Simpson was born between 1977 and 1979. They had all three of their children together. Aaren passed away in August of 1979 after drowning in the pool that belonged to the family.

Simpson first became acquainted with Nicole Brown in 1977, when she was employed as a waitress at a nightclub known as The Daisy. Simpson began seeing Brown despite the fact that he was still at the time legally married to his first wife. The divorce between Simpson and Marguerite was finalized in March of 1979.

Five years after Brown’s retirement from professional football, on February 2, 1985, he and Simpson tied the knot. Brown had played in the National Football League. Sydney Brooke Simpson, who was born in 1985, and Justin Ryan Simpson came into the world as the couple’s offspring (b. 1988).

The marriage lasted for a total of seven years, during which time Simpson entered a plea of no contest to the charge of abusing his wife in the year 1989. On February 25, 1992, Brown submitted a petition for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences as the reason. Brown and

Simpson made an effort to get back together in 1993, after they had already been divorced; however, according to Sheila Weller, “they were a dramatic, fractious, mutually obsessed couple before they married, after they married, after they divorced in 1992, and after they reconciled.” This attempt at getting back together failed.
